  • Orthodontics (Braces)
  • Dry Mouth
  • Recession (Root Exposure)
  • Existing Dental Fillings, Bridges or Crowns
  • Poor Home Care
  • High Sugar Consumption

Fluoride

For all ages, fluoride can help repair early cavities, even before it becomes visible in the mouth, by rebuilding the enamel layer of the teeth.

We recommend fluoride varnish after cleanings for all our patients. The fluoride application that our office uses is a 5% Sodium Fluoride White Varnish. The fluoride varnish application is painted onto the enamel and dentition for the treatment of sensitive teeth, cavity control and prevention. We may also recommend additional sources of fluoride for you to use at home such as prescription fluoride rinses and pastes.

Fluoride is an important part of every patient’s prevention program. When combined with good dental habits of brushing and flossing, the number of cavities in children and adults can be dramatically reduced.

Xylitol Products

We recommend Xylitol gum and mints. These products actively reduce the development of new tooth decay by working against cavity-causing bacteria. Studies have shown that 6-8 grams of Xylitol daily can help reduce cavities in kids by as much as 80%; and in just four weeks, decay-causing bacteria were cut by more than a third. Visit Epic Dental for more Xylitol information.
